How to complete your survey profile without guessing or oversharing
Use information that is true, current and yours. A profile helps a provider consider whether a task fits you; it is not a set of answers to change until more surveys appear. Read the privacy and verification rules before deciding what information to share.

What a survey profile is there to do
A research task may need people with particular experiences or circumstances. Your account profile and a task’s matching questions help establish whether you belong to the audience being recruited. A completed profile does not mean you will qualify for every invitation.
The useful goal is accuracy, not finding a perfect set of answers. If a task needs a different audience, that does not make your own details wrong. Read the task instructions and treat screening as a separate stage from an accepted completion.

Keep the details true and current
Answer about your own situation. Take your time with questions about residence, age, household or other personal circumstances, and use the provider’s permitted update process when something genuinely changes. If a question is unclear, check the help rather than guessing what answer the site wants.
Do not use another person’s details or a different country to seek an invitation. Prolific’s verification guidance describes checks involving residence, phone and identity. The wider lesson is to read the actual account rules and avoid building expectations on details that do not match you.

Choose a language you can comfortably read
An account’s interface language and a particular study’s language can be different. Choose settings you understand, then read each invitation. If you cannot follow a task’s wording or device requirements, it may not be a suitable task to begin.
Working slowly and carefully on a suitable task is more useful than trying to force a task that does not fit. Keep country and language as separate questions: being able to read a language does not establish residence eligibility in another country.

Pause when a question needs a closer look
A profile question, an identity-verification step and a researcher’s questionnaire are different contexts. Read who is asking, what the information is used for and which official process you are following. You can decide that a request or activity is not something you are comfortable with.
For identity checks, use the provider’s documented flow and accepted-document guidance. Do not treat a message from an unfamiliar person as the same thing as an account’s official verification screen. If you need help, describe the issue through the official support route and avoid posting private documents or passwords publicly.

When you are screened out
First read the message. A task can close or require a different participant. A single result does not establish that the whole profile needs changing, and it does not measure the experience you will have on every future survey.
If a task you completed appears not to have been credited, record the date and available task reference before contacting support. Keep attempts, accepted completions and reward status separate in your notes. That makes the question easier to explain without inventing a reason or repeating the task.

When your details genuinely change
A move, a change in household circumstances or another real update can make an old answer inaccurate. Use the provider’s account settings or official support process to find out how to make the correction. Do not open another account just to replace details you can no longer edit, or assume that deleting and rejoining is permitted.
Keep the current residence and receiving-account questions separate from the country you were born in or a language you can read. Prolific’s verification guidance shows why residence and identity checks need their own careful reading. If you are unsure what a question means for a recent change, ask before supplying an answer. Accurate information is a better starting point than trying to guess what will unlock a survey.

Questions readers ask
Will a complete profile guarantee more paid surveys?
No. A profile does not establish invitation volume or qualification. Availability and task requirements still matter.
Should I change answers when a survey screens me out?
Only update information when it genuinely changes and the provider permits the update. A screen-out is not a reason to invent a different profile.
